A rede mundial de computadores já é acessada por 41,7% da população acima de dez anos, o equivalente, em números absolutos, a 67,9 milhões de pessoas, segundo dados da Pnad 2009 (Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios), divulgada nesta quarta-feira pelo IBGE (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística). No ano anterior, 34,8%, ou 55,9 milhões de pessoas, dessa parcela da população havia acessado a rede mundial de computadores. Em 2005, apenas 20,9% tinham navegado, nos três meses anteriores à pesquisa, pela internet. A Pnad foi feita na última semana de setembro de 2009. Os mais jovens são os que mais utilizam a internet. Do total da população de 15 a 17 anos, 71,1% tiveram acesso à rede de computadores em 2009. Um ano antes, essa proporção era de 62,9%, e em 2005, não passava de 33,7%. Os dados de 2009 indicam que 68,7% da população de 18 a 19 anos acessaram a internet no ano passado; entre as pessoas de 20 a 24 anos, foram 68,7% de internautas. Para a população de 25 a 29 anos, tal proporção não passa de 53,7%. (Disse a Folha)
